You will see
- Auckland from the water
- Auckland's waterfront to St Heliers Bay
- Rangitoto Island - the largest and youngest of Auckland's volcanoes
- Waitemata Harbour
From Cruise Port: Auckland
After your safety briefing and paddling instruction you will kayak across the Waitemata harbour, meaning 'sparkling waters', where you may see wildlife such as Little Blue Penguins and Cooks Petrels.
On arrival at Rangitoto Island, which is the largest and youngest of Auckland's volcanoes, you will start the 1 hour trek to the summit, viewing the spectacular sites and learning all about the history of the region. Upon reaching the top you will be treated to the finest 360 degree views that the Auckland region has to offer.
At the return to the water's edge, a healthy, hearty BBQ lunch will be awaiting you. If time permits, you might even enjoy a refreshing dip in the sea before the gear is packed back into the kayak to head home.
We then kayak back south and arrive safely at St Heliers Bay.
An exciting, action-packed and educative day for all!
Please note that as were are visiting an ecological reserve where we aim to keep these islands pest free, it would be good if you can visit the website at www.treasureislands.co.nz to get the full information about visiting these gems of the Hauraki Gulf.

Amazing view - I did a sunset tour to Rangitoto Island with my adult son in a twin seater kayak. I chose him because he was bigger and stronger than me in case I wasn’t up to the approximate hour paddle each way. I needn’t have worried, it was quite easy and I think the majority of people would say the same. Good company and a good BBQ and amazing views of Auckland and Rangitoto Island at dusk and night.
